Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a separate visa for each host country?

Yes. The US, Mexico, and Canada each have their own entry requirements. If you plan to visit matches in multiple countries, you must satisfy the visa or travel authorization requirements for each one. See the Visa Requirements tab for specific details by nationality.

Can I drive between US host cities for matches?

Yes, driving is a great option for nearby cities. For example, New York to Philadelphia is about 1.5 hours, Dallas to Houston is about 3.5 hours. For longer distances (e.g., Los Angeles to Miami), flying is recommended.

What is the cheapest way to attend the World Cup?

To keep costs down: choose Category 4 tickets ($60+ for group stages), book accommodation in advance or look for hostels/Airbnbs, fly with budget airlines, and focus on cities close together to minimize transit costs. Canadian venues and Mexican venues generally have lower accommodation costs than US cities.

How many nights should I plan per city?

Plan at least 2-3 nights per city to allow for match day plus travel. If attending back-to-back matches in different cities, factor in travel time between them. The Trip Planner helps you visualize this.

When will match schedules be released?

FIFA typically releases the full match schedule 12-18 months before the tournament. For 2026, the schedule is expected in early 2025. Check the Venues tab for which cities are hosting which types of matches.

Is it safe to travel between host cities in Mexico?

Yes, the three Mexican host cities (Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey) are major metropolitan areas with good infrastructure. Flying between them is common, and bus services are available. Always check current travel advisories from your home country's embassy.
