Introduction

NetShield ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Android application collects, uses, and safeguards information. NetShield is a no-root, on-device ad blocker that uses a local VPN to filter DNS traffic.

Information We Collect

Local VPN & DNS Filtering: NetShield requests the Android VPN permission to route your device's DNS requests through a local, on-device tunnel. No traffic is sent to or through any external VPN server operated by us. Domains are checked against blocklists stored on your device, and matching requests are dropped locally.

On-Device Data: Blocklists, allowlists, custom lists, and your settings (DNS upstream choice, theme/accent) are stored only on your device using Android's Room database and DataStore. We have no access to this data.

Device Information: The app may collect basic device information (device model, OS version) for analytics purposes through third-party services.

Third-Party Services

• DNS Upstream Provider: To resolve domain names, NetShield sends DNS queries to the upstream DNS server you choose in Settings (Cloudflare, Google, AdGuard, Quad9, or a custom server). Those providers process queries under their own privacy policies.
• Google AdMob: We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP address, and ad interaction data. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Play Services: Used for ad delivery and crash reporting.

How We Use Information

• To provide on-device DNS-based ad and tracker blocking
• To display relevant advertisements
• To improve app performance and user experience

Data Storage & Security

All app data, including blocklists and settings, is stored locally on your device using Android's Room database and DataStore. No data is uploaded to external servers operated by us.

Children's Privacy

Our app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
